We believe the right connection can change your life, and at Mentorloop we make authentic human connections easier to find, build, and grow. We’re always on the lookout for new technologies to help build great mentoring relationships, and naturally, we’ve turned our attention to generative AI.
We would never use generative AI to replace an authentic mentoring relationship - we’re not in the business of robot mentors! But we are excited about the potential for generative AI to help break the ice, set an agenda, and build momentum in your mentoring journey.
Here we answer a few frequently asked questions about how we use generative AI at Mentorloop.
What kind of AI are we talking about?
We’re talking about generative AI - the use of algorithms to create (‘generate’) content like text (e.g. ChatGPT), images (e.g. DALL-E), audio, video, code etc.
At Mentorloop we’re using it to create text-based content - e.g. prompts to help start a conversation between mentor and mentee.
How does Mentorloop use generative AI?
Mentorloop uses generative AI to help mentors and mentees along in their journey. It may appear as an option to generate an ice-breaker that you can try with your mentor. It could help you create an agenda for an upcoming mentoring meeting, or perhaps help you write a 3-step plan to achieve the goals that you set in your mentoring relationship.
Do I have to use generative AI in Mentorloop?
No - it’s entirely opt-in and up to you. In the Mentorloop platform, you’ll see a button with this icon ✨ which will offer to help you in context. You can choose to click it and see what the AI proposes for you.
What if I don't want generative AI on my profile?
Simply don't use it. 😊 Generative AI is entirely opt-in.
Where does my data go if I use the generative AI features?
It’s purely a prompt engine - if you elect to use the AI to e.g. create a meeting agenda, Mentorloop will share some data from your profile, such as previous meeting notes and goals set, to build a suggested agenda for your next meeting.
We do not send your personally identifiable information fields (e.g. name, email address) in the prompts that we use with generative AI. The data that we use in the prompts is not stored elsewhere, nor is it used to train the AI model.
What if I want to use the AI features, but my match doesn't?
When you use Mentorloop AI features, they will only draw inspiration from your own data on the platform. It won't take your mentor or mentee's data into account.
Do all programs on Mentorloop have these AI features?
Not all Mentorloop programs currently have access to our AI features, so they may not appear for everyone.
