Mentorloop gives you several options depending on how long you need and whether you want to keep the option of returning. The lightest option, pausing new matches, you can do yourself in seconds. The others involve your Program Coordinator or our support team.
Not sure which option fits?
If there's any chance you might return, start with Option 1 or Option 2, both keep your profile and history intact, and coming back is much faster than starting from scratch. Only choose Option 4 if you are certain you want all your data permanently deleted.
Option 1: How do I pause new matches?
You can mark yourself as unavailable for new matches at any time, no need to contact anyone. This is the lightest option: your account, existing loops, messages, and history are completely unaffected.
- Click your name or profile picture in the top-right corner of your dashboard.
- Go to Profile settings.
- Toggle Available for new matches to off.
While unavailable, you won't receive Self Match requests and your Program Coordinator won't manually match you. Your existing mentoring relationships continue as normal. Switch back on whenever you're ready.
For more detail, see Making yourself Unavailable / Available for mentoring.
Option 2: How do I take a break from my program?
If you need to step back temporarily but want to keep the option to return, contact your Program Coordinator and ask them to pause your participation. Your profile and history are kept fully intact, so you can pick up right where you left off when you're ready.
While your participation is paused:
- Your open loops are paused, no new messages or meetings can be sent or scheduled.
- You won't appear in matching and won't receive new matches.
- Your profile and history are fully preserved.
- You can choose to rejoin the program yourself at any time.
Let your mentoring partner know
If you're currently in an active loop, reach out to your mentor or mentee before stepping back so they're not left waiting. You can send them a message directly from your loop.
Option 3: How do I leave the program entirely?
If you'd like to be fully removed from the program, contact your Program Coordinator and let them know. They'll remove you and close any open loops. If you rejoin in the future, you'll need to sign up again from scratch.
Not sure between Option 2 and Option 3? If there's any chance you might return, ask your Program Coordinator to pause your participation instead, coming back is much faster than signing up again from scratch.
Option 4: How do I permanently delete my account?
If you'd like your data deleted entirely, email support@mentorloop.com from the address associated with your account and request a full account deletion.
Please be aware:
- This is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Your profile, messages, and mentoring history will be deleted from all systems.
- If you are part of multiple programs, your data will be removed from all of them.
- Returning to Mentorloop in future would mean signing up again from scratch.
Right to erasure (GDPR)
If you are located in the UK or EU and are exercising your right to erasure under GDPR, please state this in your email to support@mentorloop.com. We are legally obliged to process these requests and will confirm once complete.
How do I rejoin a program I've left?
How you rejoin depends on how you left. Log in to Mentorloop and check your account status first.
- If you made yourself unavailable — simply toggle Available for new matches back on in your Profile settings.
- If your participation was paused — you may see the option to rejoin the program yourself directly from your account. If the program is still active and accepting participants, you can confirm your profile and rejoin without starting from scratch.
- If you were removed — you won't be able to rejoin without help. Contact your Program Coordinator and ask to be re-added, or request a new sign-up link.
- If your account no longer exists — ask your Program Coordinator for a new sign-up link and complete the sign-up form as a new participant.
How do I stop receiving emails from Mentorloop?
There are two types of emails Mentorloop sends, and each is managed differently.
- Marketing emails — open any marketing email from Mentorloop and click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
- Program notification emails — these are sent as part of your active program, for example when you receive a message from your mentoring partner or Program Coordinator. These cannot be switched off entirely, but you can control how often you receive them in Account settings → Email notification frequency.
If you've unsubscribed from marketing emails but are still getting notifications, these are likely program system emails. Adjust your frequency in Account settings, or contact support@mentorloop.com for further help.
