Managing your Account

Whether you need to step back from your mentoring programme, leave it entirely, or find your way back in, this article explains your options and what to expect at each step.

How do I take a break from my mentoring programme?

If you need to step back temporarily but want to keep the option to return, the best approach is to let your Program Coordinator know. They can move you to the Mentoring Bench, which pauses your participation while keeping your profile and history intact so you can pick up right where you left off when you're ready.

While you're benched:

  • Your open loops are paused, no new messages or meetings can be sent or scheduled.
  • You won't appear in matching and won't receive new matches.
  • Your profile and history are fully preserved.
  • You can choose to rejoin the programme yourself at any time.

Let your mentoring partner know

If you're currently in an active loop, reach out to your mentor or mentee before stepping back so they're not left waiting. You can send them a message directly from your loop.

How do I leave the programme permanently?

If you'd like to be fully removed from the programme, contact your Program Coordinator and let them know. They'll remove you and close any open loops. If you rejoin in the future, you'll need to sign up again from scratch.

If you'd like your data to be deleted entirely, email support@mentorloop.com and request a full account deletion.

Not sure which option is right for you?

If there's any chance you might want to return, ask your Program Coordinator to bench you rather than remove you. Benching keeps your profile and history intact, and rejoining is much faster, you won't need to fill in your profile from scratch.

How do I rejoin a programme I've left?

How you rejoin depends on how you left. Log in to Mentorloop at app.mentorloop.com and check your account status first.

  • If you were benched — you may see the option to rejoin the programme yourself directly from your account. If the programme is still active and accepting participants, you can confirm your profile and rejoin without needing to start from scratch.
  • If you were removed — you won't be able to rejoin without help. Contact your Program Coordinator and ask to be re-added, or request a new sign-up link.
  • If your account no longer exists — ask your Program Coordinator for a new sign-up link and complete the sign-up form as a new participant.

How do I stop receiving emails from Mentorloop?

There are two types of emails Mentorloop sends, and each is managed differently.

  • Marketing emails — to unsubscribe, open any marketing email from Mentorloop and click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
  • Programme notification emails — these are sent as part of your active programme, for example, when you receive a message from your mentoring partner or your Program Coordinator. These cannot be switched off entirely, but you can control how often you receive them in Account settings → Email notification frequency.

Still receiving emails after unsubscribing?

If you've unsubscribed from marketing emails but are still getting notifications, these are likely programme system emails rather than marketing. Adjust your notification frequency in Account settings → Email notification frequency, or contact support@mentorloop.com if you need further help.
