Mentorloop's Microsoft Teams integration lets mentors and mentees launch video meetings directly from their loop, without leaving the platform. This article covers how to connect your Teams account, start a meeting, and answers common questions about the integration.

What is the Microsoft Teams integration?

The Microsoft Teams integration allows participants to start a Teams video call directly from within a Mentorloop loop. When a meeting is launched, both participants are notified inside Mentorloop and by email, and a link to join the meeting appears in the loop for both people.

The integration requires each participant to connect their own Microsoft Teams account through their Mentorloop account settings.

How do I connect my Microsoft Teams account to Mentorloop?

Connecting your Teams account takes a few steps from within your Mentorloop account settings. Once connected, you'll be able to launch Teams meetings from any of your active loops.

  1. Log in to Mentorloop and click your name or profile picture in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Account settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Go to the Integrations tab.
  4. Under Video Conferencing, select Connect next to Microsoft Teams.
  5. Follow the prompts to authenticate with your Microsoft account.

Don't see the Teams option?

If Microsoft Teams doesn't appear under Integrations, it hasn't been enabled for your programme. Contact your Program Coordinator to request it.

How do I start a Microsoft Teams meeting from Mentorloop?

Once your Teams account is connected, you can launch a meeting from within any active loop. Both participants will be notified and can join from the loop itself.

  1. Open the loop with your mentor or mentee.
  2. Click the Microsoft Teams icon at the top of the loop.
  3. Confirm that you'd like to launch a meeting.
  4. Your mentor or mentee will receive a notification inside Mentorloop and by email. The meeting link will appear in the loop for both of you to join.

Both participants need to connect Teams

The Teams meeting is created via the account of whoever launches it. Your mentor or mentee doesn't need to have Teams connected to receive the meeting link and join, but they will need their own Teams account to participate in the call.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't have a Microsoft Teams account?

If you don't have a Microsoft Teams account, or if Teams isn't enabled for your programme, you have a couple of alternatives:

  • Zoom — Mentorloop also integrates with Zoom for video meetings. Connect your Zoom account in Account settings → Integrations if your programme has Zoom enabled.
  • Calendar integration — Use Mentorloop's calendar integration (Cronofy) to schedule meetings through your calendar provider (Google Calendar, Outlook, iCloud, or Microsoft Exchange). Meeting links and reminders are managed through your calendar app.
  • Manual link — You can always share a meeting link directly in your loop's chat if you prefer to use any other video tool.

Can I bypass the Microsoft Teams lobby when meeting through Mentorloop?

Lobby settings in Microsoft Teams are controlled by your organisation's Teams administrator, not by Mentorloop. Mentorloop is not able to override or configure lobby bypass settings through the current integration. If lobby access is causing friction, we recommend speaking with your IT team to adjust the Teams meeting policy for your organisation.

Are Teams meetings recorded or logged in Mentorloop?

Mentorloop does not record Teams meetings or store meeting content. The integration creates and surfaces the meeting link within the loop; any recording or transcription is handled entirely within Microsoft Teams according to your organisation's Teams settings. Mentorloop does log that a meeting was scheduled, which contributes to your loop activity and engagement data.
