You can make yourself unavailable for new mentoring matches at any time using the 'Available for new matches' toggle in your Profile settings, found in the account settings dropdown at the top right of your dashboard. While unavailable, you won't receive Self Match requests and your Program Coordinator won't match you manually.

Keeping your availability up to date helps you manage the expectations of your mentoring matches and ensures you don't take on more than you can handle. If you can only manage one mentoring relationship at a time, or simply need a break from mentoring, set yourself as unavailable, you can switch back whenever you're ready.

How do I make myself unavailable for new matches?

Open your Profile settings from the account settings dropdown at the top right of your dashboard, then switch off the 'Available for new matches' toggle. You can change it back to available at any time.

  1. Click the dropdown underneath your name at the top right of your dashboard and navigate to your Profile settings.

  2. Use the 'Available for new matches' toggle to make yourself unavailable. You can change it back at any time.

Making yourself unavailable will not affect your existing matches, it only prevents new match requests and new manual matches.

How do I set a maximum number of matches?

Setting a maximum number of matches lets Mentorloop manage your availability for you. Once you reach your chosen capacity, you're automatically marked as unavailable, you'll stop receiving Self Match requests, and your Program Coordinator will see you've reached your limit.

  1. In the same Profile settings, enable the maximum number of matches toggle.

  2. Choose the maximum number of matches you're willing to take on.

When a match ends and you drop back below your maximum, your availability updates according to your settings.

Frequently asked questions

Will making myself unavailable affect my current mentor or mentee?

No. Your existing mentoring Loops continue exactly as they are. Unavailability only stops new Self Match requests and prevents your Program Coordinator from adding you to new matches.

Can my Program Coordinator see that I'm unavailable?

Yes. Your availability status is visible to your Program Coordinator, so they know not to match you manually and can see when you've reached your maximum capacity.

How do I make myself available again?

Return to your Profile settings and switch the 'Available for new matches' toggle back on. If you're using a maximum number of matches, you'll also become available automatically when an existing match ends and you drop below your cap.
