Draft matches are proposed mentor–mentee pairings that have not yet gone live. As a Program Coordinator, you review each draft before it's activated, approving, dismissing, or bulk-approving directly from the Loops page.

Smart Match is available on Mentorloop Enterprise

Draft matches are created by Smart Match or by a Program Coordinator using manual matching. Both types follow the same review process below. Draft loops apply to both 1:1 and group loops.

What is a draft match?

A draft match is a suggested pairing that has not yet been made active. Draft matches give you full control, participants are not notified until you approve. They may be:

  • Generated by Smart Match, which uses participant profile data to suggest compatible pairings, or
  • Created by a Program Coordinator via manual matching.

How do I approve or dismiss draft matches?

  1. Navigate to the Loops page
  2. Filter for draft matches only

    • Above the search bar, click Loop Status: 2 selected.
    • Untick Active.
    • Click Done.
Only draft Loops will now appear in the list.

  3. Review individual draft pairings
    • Click on a draft Loop to open the 1:1 Loop View.
    • The mentor and mentee profiles appear side by side, use this view to assess compatibility based on skills, goals, experience, and interests.
  4. Approve or dismiss

    • Approve: Click Approve Match. You'll have the option to notify the mentor and mentee, and can customise the notification email before sending.
    • Dismiss: Click Dismiss Pairing. The Loop is removed from drafts and participants are not notified.

    💡 Move between drafts faster

Use the navigation buttons at the top of the Loop, or press the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to step through draft matches one at a time.

How do I approve draft matches in bulk?

  1. Select the checkboxes next to the draft Loops you want to approve.
  2. Click the Approve Draft Loops icon at the top of the list.
  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear, you can choose to notify participants in bulk from here.

Reviewing your draft matches before approving ensures every connection is high-quality and aligned with participant goals, whether you're matching manually or using Smart Match.
