Closing the loop

Mentoring relationships come in many different shapes and sizes. There may come a time when it makes sense to end a relationship and look for a new mentoring connection.

A mentoring Loop can be closed in two ways: you can close the Loop yourself or your Program Coordinator may close the Loop for you.

To close your mentoring Loop:

  1. If you have multiple Loops, navigate to the one you'd like to close from your dashboard or the left sidebar

  2. From any screen within the Loop, click the three-dots menu button at the top right

  3. Click the 'Close Loop' menu option

  4. Complete the 'Close Loop Survey' to finalize closing your loop, selecting a reason for closing the loop and, if applicable, rating the suitability of the match. This information is only shared with your Program Coordinator.

  5. Your Loop partner will also have the opportunity to complete the Close Loop Survey.

  6. Then you can reach out to your Program Coordinator or use the 'Find a match' page to be matched in a new Loop.

If your Program Coordinator closes your loop:

  1. You will still be able to access your closed loop, but all areas will be read only.
  2. You may find that your Program Coordinator has left a note indicating the reason why they closed the Loop. If you are unsure, reach out to your Program Coordinator via your 1:1 Loop with them - the 'Your coordinator(s)' item in the left side bar.
  3. You may also be asked to fill out the 'Close Loop Survey' on the Loop page. Be sure to fill this in and provide some insight into your experience, which is only shared with your Program Coordinator.
