Mentoring relationships naturally evolve. When a mentoring relationship has run its course, you can close the Loop and move on to a new mentoring connection.

A Loop can be closed in two ways: you can close it yourself, or your Program Coordinator can close it on your behalf.

What happens when my Program Coordinator closes my Loop?

If your Program Coordinator closes your Loop rather than you:

  1. You can still access the Loop content, but all content will be read-only. Learn more about accessing closed Loops.
  2. A note may be sent by your Program Coordinator explaining why the Loop was closed
  3. You may be asked to complete the Close Loop Survey — fill this in to share feedback on your experience (visible to your Program Coordinator only)
  4. If you're unsure why your Loop was closed, reach out to your Program Coordinator via the Your coordinator(s) item in the left sidebar.

How do I close my mentoring Loop?

  1. If you have multiple Loops, navigate to the one you want to close from your dashboard or the left sidebar

  2. From any screen within the Loop, click the three-dots menu (⋯) in the top right corner

  3. Select Close Loop

  4. Complete the Close Loop Survey — choose a reason for closing and, if applicable, rate the suitability of the match

  5. Your Loop partner will also be prompted to complete the Close Loop Survey

Your Close Loop Survey responses are only visible to your Program Coordinator — not your Loop partner.

What happens after a Loop is closed?

Once the Loop is closed, you can find a new match by any of the below, depending on your program matching type:

  • Contacting your Program Coordinator to find you a match
  • Visiting the Find a Match page in the left-hand navigation, if available for your program
  • Waiting for the next round of Smart Matches (your Program Coordinator is best placed to know this information)

Can I access a closed Loop?

Yes. Closed Loops remain accessible in read-only mode. You can review past conversations, shared resources, and goals, but you cannot send new messages or make changes.
