Mentorloop Smart Match is algorithm-driven matching for your entire program of participants based on your chosen criteria. It is a powerful, proven tool to guarantee equitable, good matches for everyone on your program.
The Mentorloop Algorithm is available on the Mentorloop Enterprise Package.
How does the Mentorloop Algorithm work?
Based on the information provided by mentors and mentees when they sign up for your program, the Mentorloop Algorithm considers a range of criteria, including similarities between skills and goals.
We then benchmark a potential match against feedback we’ve received for any similar mentoring relationships that have been supported through Mentorloop over the years, in order to give a score on whether the match will be a good fit or not!
We also collect ongoing feedback from your mentoring participants - the collective results help us fine-tune the system to provide the best possible recommendations within your program.
Mentorloop will run this algorithm and provide Program Coordinators with a set of Draft Loops which you can review, before setting live!
What is the difference between a Recommended Match and a Draft Match?
The Recommended Match is available for both Mentorloop Pro and Enterprise Packages whereas the Draft Matches are only for Enterprise Packages. If you want to learn more about how you can upgrade to Enterprise, reach out to us at support@mentorloop.com!
A recommended match is displayed on a participants dashboard. It is a connection we’ve identified as being a great match for mentors and mentees based on your program criteria. A Draft match is displayed within the Loops tab for Program Coordinators. The draft matches are generated by Mentorloop for all participants of the program for the Program Coordinator to review and publish.
Who is included?
Everyone currently active in the program and those who have set their availability as Available is reviewed by the algorithm in order to find you the best mentoring connections possible.
Are there any limitations?
The algorithm will only consider information provided by mentors and mentees in their signup form. If this is out of date or incomplete the recommended matches may be off the mark!
Matches are based off mentors and mentees currently active in the program - there may be an even better match out there who hasn’t joined yet (or who has chosen to hide themselves from receiving Self-Match requests).
Is there an opt out feature?
Yes, Smart Matching is an optional feature - recommended matches are shown to ‘spark’ a conversation for that mentor or mentee around what they might be looking for in a connection. We believe the recommended match would be a great fit but it is up to that individual to decide whether or not they’d like to request a connection.
If a mentor or mentee decides their recommended match is not for them, they can either view other recommended matches or look for a connection that feels right in the program’s ‘Find New Matches’ profile area.
Likewise, if mentors or mentees don’t wish to appear in any recommended matches they can set themselves as unavailable using the steps here).
We do encourage multiple purpose-driven connections where possible but also advise that there must be clear expectations around capacity and ability to commit time and energy to the relationship in order for it to be successful.
